LEARNING FOR LIFE AWARD
The R-7 Learning for Life Award is presented each month to a non-administrative staff member, and all nominations come from district employees. The award was first given in 1985 and was originally named the “Reaching The Mark Award.” Several years later it became known as the “Expect the Best Award” and then the “Learning for Life Award” in 2007, reflecting the newest R-7 motto.
The district recognizes one staff member per month on the following schedule:
Secondary certified staff in October, January and April
Elementary certified staff in September, December and March
Support staff in November, February, May and August.
Nomination forms are distributed to the buildings in late August. The selection committee reviews the returned nominations and makes their selections in November to be awarded beginning in December.
The selection process remains entirely confidential and the awards committee members anonymous. Members of the committee are fellow non-administrative staff representing all areas.
When considering a special co-worker to nominate you should think of how this individual benefits or influences your building, the students and you personally. You may submit as many names as you like -- from your own building/department or any other area districtwide.
Look for the nomination forms in August. Staff will receive those by e-mail and the building offices will also have some paper copies. Extra nomination sheets can be obtained through Janie Rohlfing, 986-1014, or by e-mailing janie.rohlfing@leesummit.k12.mo.us. Staff can also print the nomination form from where it is posted in the Lotus LSSD Forms Database Index.
