All three Lee's Summit R-7 high schools offer a variety of entertaining productions each year through their recognized Theatre Departments. Productions are open to the public, and tickets are reasonably priced.

Lee's Summit R-7 high schools prepare
for second-semester theatre season
All three Lee's Summit R-7 School District high schools are preparing for their second-semester theater seasons with productions beginning in February. Theatre schedules follow, including contact information and websites for each school.
Lee's Summit High School will present "Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure," based on the original 1899 play written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, on Feb. 24 through 26. Lee's Summit North High School will present the hilarious play "Robin Hood and Maid Marian," a newer take on the classic story of Robin Hood, the Sheriff of Nottingham, Little John and Maid Marian. The play runs at 7 p.m. March 2 and 3 and at 2 p.m. March 4. Tickets are $7 and include dessert during intermission.
LSNHS will continue its popular children's series with "Beauty and the Beast Junior," Disney's beloved fairy tale about the brainy and beautiful Belle and the horrible beast. The play will be offered at 7 p.m. April 13 and 14 and at 2 p.m. April 15. Tickets are $5 for the children's show.

Lee's Summit West High School will present the family-friendly rock musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10, 11, 17 and 18 and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19. The musical, based on the Biblical story, uses a variety of musical styles to tell the story of Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob and the jealous brothers who sell him into slavery.
In addition, LSWHS will present a series of student-directed one-act plays April 13 and 14. Repertory theatre productions scheduled for April 20 and 21 are "Steel Magnolias" and the hilarious musical, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."
