Parents As Teachers Program

Parents As Teachers (PAT) is a home/community/school partnership designed to provide information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

This free, voluntary program provides personal visits to families from certified parent educators. Last year 9,000 personal visits were made by 30 parent educators in Lee’s Summit. Periodic screenings are offered to help increase parent's understanding of their child's developmental progress, as well as alert them to any possible delays. Other services include parent/child group meetings, storytimes, playgroups, speakers and special programs.
