The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Transportation Department is a district owned fleet of 147 school buses transporting approximately 12,500 of the 17,500-student population daily. Buses travel in excess of 2,000,000 miles annually covering approximately 117 square miles. Transportation services are provided for all eligible students living more than one-half mile from their assigned school. The Board of Education in accordance with state regulations requires all employees driving school buses to be trained by certified personnel, properly licensed, subject to extensive background screening, random drug and alcohol screening, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations mandated for school bus drivers. We will employ 142 full time bus drivers and 18 aides for the upcoming school year. We encourage and welcome parents and patrons of our district to seek employment opportunities to operate our school buses. We have found that people with a vested interest in the students and our community have proven to be a great asset to the district as employees.
