Application Requirements:

Please complete the requirements listed below. As applications and credentials (letter of reference/placement papers and transcripts) are reviewed, some candidates may be interviewed for future consideration.

  1. Please fill out an application by accessing the Internet and typing   www.moreap.net 
  2. You must meet basic employment criteria of at least a BA Degree and State of Missouri Certification. Please furnish a copy (Xerox) of your teaching certificate.
  3. Please furnish a copy of your Transcripts.
  4. Three (3) letters of reference or a current placement file.
  5. Cover letter stating that you are interested in teaching in the Lee's Summit School District and that your application is on the REAP System.

Interview Process:

The interview process with the R-7 School District is as follows:

  1. Certain applicants will be selected for interviews as needs are identified.

  2. The Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Principals, Directors and other Administrators will interview candidates.

  3. If the interview is termed preliminary, or the interview is conducted prior to a known need, a second interview would be necessary before a contract is offered.

  4. When candidates are interviewed for specific openings, one will be selected and the unsuccessful candidate will be notified the position has been filled and his/her application will be retained in the active file for further consideration.

Note: Applications will remain active for a period of two years. Upon the third year, the application will be placed in an inactive file.

Student Teachers

REQUIREMENTS TO STUDENT TEACH IN THE R-7 SCHOOL DISTRICT:

  1. Cumulative grade point at 3.0 or above

  2. No grade below a B in either the core areas or area of certification/specialty

  3. Security clearance through the State Highway Patrol or FBI

  4. Behavior during the student teaching experience that aligns with staff expectations as outlined in the Lee's Summit R-7 Personnel Policies

  5. The following materials, in conjunction with any forms required by the sponsoring university/college, are required to be submitted to the Lee's Summit R-7 School District:

  • Philosophy of Education

  • Official transcript from sponsoring university/college

  • Personal information sheet indicating contact information if one is not       contained in the university/college student teaching materials

  1. Requests to student teach in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District are only accepted from a sponsoring university/college.  Student teachers are asked not to contact individual teachers or building administrators to obtain information for a student teaching placement.

Substitute Teachers

Thank you for your interest in substituting in the Lee's Summit R-7 School District in Lee's Summit, Mo.  Substitutes are vital members of our professional team and offer an important contribution to the educational program in the classroom.   According to the Substitute Teaching Institute at Utah State University, research shows that substitute teachers will teach over one full year of a child's K-12 education by the time he/she graduates from high school.  Because instruction must continue, regardless of the regular teacher's absence, the services of dependable and well-prepared substitutes are essential.
